Premier League rivals 'want' Adam Lallana but Liverpool man has major role to play

A host of Liverpool's Premier League rivals are reportedly interested in signing Adam Lallana this summer.

The midfielder joined the club from Southampton in 2014, and his contract at Anfield is set to expire this June.

With Lallana potentially available as a free agent, The Telegraph report the 31-year-old is being monitored by Leicester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham.

The report also states no discussions with either club have taken place with the Liverpool man focused on the task at hand with the Reds fighting on three fronts - with the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup all still to play for.

Jurgen Klopp was clear he would not allow Lallana to leave during the January transfer window with the club in such a promising position.

Speaking at the opening of the transfer window last month, the boss told: “Everything about Adam Lallana, Adam Lallana knows and I know.

"I’m really happy for him that he’s in sensational shape at the moment. That’s what we try to show constantly, as often as we bring him in.

"He is a very important player in this moment. What will happen in the future, we will see. But for him, wherever it is – here or somewhere else – the only important thing is that he can show he is 100 per cent fit.

"He had some injury problems [that are] completely done; trained, body is super fit, mind in a perfect place, enjoys the time here in the moment. You can see that in each second of training and [when] he plays, very influential.

"But these kind of things we don’t discuss in public, so you have to speculate further.”

Last summer, both Daniel Sturridge an Alberto Moreno were allowed to leave the club at the expiration of their respective contracts.

Blood Red: Jurgen Klopp asked about Adam Lallana's future

It could be a similar scenario for Lallana, who returned to the Reds squad in last weekend's victory over former club Southampton after sitting out three matches with illness, with the England international potentially set to part ways after six years of service on Merseyside.

Since playing a starring role in Klopp's early years at Liverpool, most notably helping them qualify for the Champions League for the first time under the German in 2017, the playmaker has seen his game-time limited following a number of injury-plagued campaigns.

However, Lallana has seemingly put such issues behind him this year, gaining plaudits for his performances with a late equaliser against Manchester United in October a particular highlight.

While Sturridge's own injury woes saw him join Turkish side Trabzonspor last summer following a lack of domestic interest, the reported clubs monitoring the Reds' number 20 shows he still has much to offer, even if it isn't on Merseyside.

And as Sturridge and Moreno played their part on and off the pitch during their final months at Anfield, leaving the club as European champions, if Lallana's time at Liverpool is indeed coming to an end, he too has the opportunity to play a vital role as the Reds march towards a maiden Premier League title.
