Premier League rival explains why Liverpool's Roberto Firmino is his most difficult opponent

Chelsea’s Thiago Silva has admitted that Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is his most-difficult opponent.

The centre-back who has been capped 93 times by Brazil arrived at Stamford Bridge at the start of this season after eight years with Paris Saint-Germain who he helped win seven Ligue 1 titles, five French Cups and six French League Cups.

Despite his veteran status, the 36-year-old has played 21 games so far for the Londoners this term.

His star-studded career also included three seasons at AC Milan but over his entire playing days, Thiago rates compatriot Firmino as the hardest footballer to play against.

The 29-year-old’s displays for Liverpool have come under scrutiny in recent times with the centre-forward netting once in his last 16 games but Thiago has no doubts over his quality.

When asked who his most difficult opponent is, Team Talk quote Thiago as telling Chelsea TV: “Firmino, he has incredible technical quality.

“He is very intelligent in his movements [on the pitch] that leaves defenders a bit lost.”
