Premier League Players Together initiative 'makes first NHS contribution worth £4m'

Premier League footballers' Players Together initiative has made it's first contribution to the NHS as they battle against the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.

Last month came confirmation - following a public debate over wage cuts for footballers sparked by the Health Secretary Matt Hancock - that 150 top-flight players had collaborated to form the voluntary movement in partnership with NHS Charities Together (NHSCT), an umbrella organisation that supports 250 separate NHS charities across the UK.

The initiative was developed "separate to any other club and league conversations" and aims to assist NHSCT in "generating and distributing funds quickly and efficiently to where they are needed most".

The Mirror say that process is now well under way with a first contribution, which the Mail add is worth £4million.

Among the stars to have backed the campaign spearheaded by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson include Harry Kane, Harry Maguire, Marcus Rashford, Virgil van Dijk, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne.
