Premier League new boy hails Sadio Mane as 'the best player in the world'

Watford star Ismaila Sarr believes Liverpool forward and Senegal team-mate Sadio Mane is currently the best player in the world.

Sarr joined the Hornets for a club-record fee from Rennes over the summer after playing alongside Mane during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Just weeks after lifting the Champions League trophy with Jurgen Klopp's side, the Reds' striker helped his country to the final of the international competition before losing to Algeria.

Despite his busy summer, the 27-year-old has enjoyed an excellent start to the new campaign, scoring four goals to help Liverpool to victory in each of their opening six league games.

And Sarr believes that his international team-mate is among the world's best and hopes the forward will be able to lift the Premier League trophy after narrowly missing out last season.

“[Mane is] one of the best men in Africa and in the world,” he told Watford’s YouTube channel .

“I can say that for me, he is the best player in the world. Because he is quality. He has won the Champions League .

“He has done everything for Liverpool and in all competitions, unfortunately not the Premier League but I hope he does at some point because for me, he’s the best African player in Europe.

“He plays well, he does everything well both in football and life.”

Even though Mane was not able to lift the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal this summer, Sarr praised the forward's impact, both on and off the pitch.

“He also does things right with us, he’s our national team leader,” the Watford winger continued.

“He’s a guy who does things right, even outside of football.

"He does what is right for him and for everybody. Because he is a nice guy and does what is right.

“On top of that, he is my idol. I love Sadio Mane. Sometimes before matches, I watch videos of him. If I’m alone, I do.”

Sarr has made five appearances for Watford since making the switch from Ligue 1, with his only goal coming against Coventry in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Meanwhile, Quique Sanchez Flores' are currently bottom of the Premier League table and travel to Wolves on Sunday looking for their first league win of the season.
