Premier League managers could be allowed to appeal VAR decisions in major changes proposed

Changes being proposed around VAR in the Premier League include managers being allowed to appeal decisions made by referees during a match.

VAR has come under heavy criticism after another weekend of inconsistencies and high-profile incidents.

Liverpool were denied a goal in their 2-1 win over Aston Villa while the game between Everton and Spurs saw several decisions not given despite lengthy delays.

Premier League clubs are now preparing to meet next week with the Telegraph reporting that 'a robust' discussion on VAR expected.

Possible radical changes are now on the table include managers being granted a set number of appeals.

The league is expected to be opposed to the suggestions but with coming under increasing scrutiny the reports suggest that we could see some major changes.

Former England striker Gary Lineker is one of the high-profile figures to criticise VAR after the weekend.

The Match of the Day host tweeted: "Sick of VAR. In its present state it is killing the game.

"It’s being used to referee the game rather than something in the background to correct the absolute howler. Was always going to take time to settle down but they couldn’t be getting it more wrong than they currently are."
