Premier League make Man United decision which is good news for Aubameyang, Abraham and Mane

Marcus Rashford has been denied his 11th Premier League goal of the season, after Manchester United's appeal to award his strike against Aston Villa was rejected.

United drew 2-2 with Villa at the beginning of December, with the England forward celebrating after seemingly scoring the equaliser.

The goal made it 1-1 at the time after Jack Grealish had scored the opener, with strikes from Victor Lindelof and Tyrone Mings meaning the game ended as a draw.

However Rashford's first half effort was eventually ruled as a Tom Heaton own goal by the dubious goals panel after the header hit the post and rebounded off the goalkeeper into the net.

Rashford tweeted at the time: 'Didn’t score at the weekend apparently. How long you been on the dubious goals panel   @tammyabraham  ???'

According to the MEN, United officially appealed the call to award the goal to Heaton but the initial decision from the Premier League will stand.

This means Rashford remains on 10 Premier League goals, six behind the league's top scorer Jamie Vardy.

Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham and Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are on 11, while Sadio Mane, Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Danny Ings make up the chasing pack on nine goals apiece.

Rashford will attempt to close the gap on his rivals when United face Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Former United boss David Moyes could lead the Toffees out, with reports claiming that Everton will seek to offer the Scot a deal until the end of the season after first choice target Vitor Pereira withdrew from the process.
