Premier League injury table: Positive signs for Newcastle United and Arsenal

The Premier League season may only be a few weeks old but injury issues continue to affect the selection choices for managers.

Some players will have carried injuries into the new campaign from last term, while others may have picked them up in pre-season or when returning from duty with their international sides.

For many, this is a bigger problem than it may be for other clubs but while it can be a hindrance in the latter stages of the campaign, it could provide room for optimism at this early stage.

That is certainly the case for Newcastle United and Steve Bruce, who have suffered defeat in both of their opening matches but currently have eight players carrying injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s clash against Tottenham.

DeAndre Yedlin , Andy Carroll and Florian Lejuene are among those currently sidelined and the trio are all likely to become an established member of the first-team squad when fit.

It is a similar situation for Arsenal, who boast a 100% record so far this season and still have Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding and Mesut Ozil among those yet to feature this season.

Bournemouth (seven), Norwich (seven) and Chelsea (five) can also look towards their injury list for a potential boost, while at the other end of the spectrum Wolves and Leicester City are yet to encounter injury issues, with only one absentee each.
