Premier League fixture changes confirmed after clubs reach European semi-finals

The Premier League have announced a number of date changes for fixtures in the coming weeks after four English sides progressed in Europe.

Liverpool and Spurs made it to the semi-finals of the Champions League, while Arsenal and Chelsea will represent England in the last four of the Europa League.

Leicester City v Arsenal will now take place at 12:00 on Sunday 29 April, giving the Gunners four days rest before their clash with Valencia on Thursday 2 May.

The Premier League have come to the aid of Spurs and Liverpool, meanwhile, by moving their matches away at Bournemouth and Newcastle respectively to Saturday 4 May.

It means Spurs have three and Liverpool four days to recover before their mouth-watering clashes between Ajax and Barcelona .

Kick off times have not yet been confirmed for the two Premier League games, but both are expected to be live on Sky Sports.

The day after, Sunday 5 May, sees Chelsea host Watford at 2pm and Arsenal at home to Brighton at 4.30pm, with the two clubs playing their Europa League second leg fixtures four days later on Thursday 9 May.

Finally, Manchester City will now play Leicester City on Monday 6 May, swapping with the originally scheduled Spurs v Bournemouth game to give Tottenham more time to rest ahead of Ajax.

It remains to be seen whether these alterations will help the English teams in Europe. According to Paddy Power Liverpool are second favourites to win the Champions League, available at 5/2, only behind Barcelona at 6/4. Tottenham, meanwhile, are joint underdogs with Ajax at 4/1.

Chelsea are the favourites with the bookies to win the Europa League, meanwhile, at 13/10, with Arsenal just behind at 5/2.

All the clubs involved in Europe still have a lot to play for domestically too, with Liverpool still fighting for the title and Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea locked in a battle for a top four spot.
