Premier League defender makes bold prediction about Hakim Ziyech's £33.4m Chelsea transfer

Wolves defender Romain Saiss has backed international teammate Hakim Ziyech to excel in the Premier League with Chelsea, making more of an impact than Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez.

The Blues will see Ziyech move to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after agreeing a €40m fee with the Eredivisie side for his services, in Frank Lampard's first major piece of transfer business since taking charge.

Big things are already expected of Ziyech and Saiss, a fellow Morocco international, believes his impact can surpass the impression that Mahrez has made with Leicester and Man City.

“I speak sometimes with him about his future because he deserves to play at a good club, a top league," he told Sport 360.

“Even if Ajax is a good club I think he can play higher and for an even bigger club. The fans like a player like Hakim, skillful, exciting, and I’m surprised nobody has come for him [before]. It would be a good thing for him to play in the Premier League. It’s a good league for him.

“Of course Hakim can do more [than Mahrez]. He did very well in the Champions League for a couple of years and I’m not surprised because he’s a good player. I think he can play for most of the big teams.

“It was the same for Riyad when he was at Leicester. He needed time before he moved to [Manchester] City and I think it will be the same for Hakim.”
