Premier League confirms one positive result in latest coronavirus testing

The Premier League has confirmed that one person returned a positive result in its latest round of coronavirus testing.

More than 2,000 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19 between July 6 and July 12.

A brief Premier League statement read: "The Premier League can confirm that between Monday, July 6 and Sunday, July 12, 2,071 players and club staff were tested for Covid-19. Of these, one person has tested positive."

The Premier League has now carried out 13 rounds of testing and there have been 20 positive results so far.

The top flight season was suspended on March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic and resumed on June 17.
