Premier League confirms new guidance that will impact Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham supporters

Supporters attending Premier League games will no longer need to provide proof of Covid vaccination or a negative test, with the safety measures lifted in line with the end of England's Plan B restrictions.

The Premier League said that it will continue to urge fans to follow public health guidance to keep each other safe on a matchday, including wearing face coverings when indoors or in crowded areas.

But there will be no need for certification upon entry to stadiums as case numbers fall.

"Fans have shown fantastic support for the measures in place and we thank them for helping keep each other safe and grounds open at full capacity," the league's chief executive Richard Masters said.

"Despite Government restrictions easing, everyone still has a role to play in making sure people feel safe at our matches.

"We and our clubs urge supporters to continue to do all they can to follow public health guidance to minimise the risk of passing on Covid-19."

Earlier today the league outlined its new criteria for a game to be postponed.

More than 20 fixtures have been called off this winter because of outbreaks within squads, most controversially the recent North London Derby.

Under the new rules, which stipulate a club must have four positive cases, Arsenal would have been forced to play against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners had a number of injuries and absences due to the Africa Cup of Nations but had only one confirmed case when applying for the postponement (it then rose to two 24 hours later), citing the toll previous congestion had taken on Mikel Arteta's squad.
