The Premier League have confirmed the 2020/21 season will get underway on September 12.
Shareholders released a statement on Friday afternoon confirming the start date of next season, which is due to come to a close on May 23 2021.
That means there will be a seven-week break from the end of the current campaign and the beginning of the next one.
The Premier League statement confirmed that they will continue to consult The FA and EFL regarding the scheduling of all domestic competitions.
Clubs are currently preparing for their final matches of the 2019/20 term, with the season coming to an end on Sunday afternoon.
Jurgen Klopp will take his Liverpool side to Newcastle on the last day, while Carlo Ancelotti's Everton are set to host Bournemouth at Goodison Park.
