Premier League confirm Leeds United fixture at Crystal Palace set to be aired on pay-per-view

The Premier League has confirmed a Leeds United fixture has been selected for pay-per-view coverage.

Leeds' trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday, November 7 will still have a 3pm kick-off time but will now be shown live on BT Sport Box Office.

It is one of five pay-per-view fixtures across that weekend, which could well prove to be the last set of games priced at £14.95.

The Premier League are set to hold discussions with all 20 clubs to discuss the current service, including pricing structure, ahead of matches returning after November's international break.

That means fans wanting to watch the Whites in action at Selhurst Park are set to still face the much-criticised £14.95 charge.

Many supporters across the Premier League have protested the fee by instead donating the money to charities such as food banks.

Leeds fans - encouraged by the Leeds United Supporters' Trust - raised over £40,000 for the Leeds Fans Foodbank ahead of their pay-per-view fixture against Aston Villa last Friday.

Those Whites fans keen to see the trip to Crystal Palace will have to do so by visiting BT Sport Box Office.

Fans do not need to subscribe to BT Sport in order to watch the game but will instead have to create a BT Spot Box Office account in order to purchase the option of watching the match.

Viewers will be unable to watch a replay of the game on-demand after it has finished, however.

The unpopularity of pay-per-view has caused many to argue it should be scrapped after low viewing figures blighted the first two weekends of coverage.

Both Sky Sports and BT Sport are said to be happy at the prospect of the service being scrapped.
