Premier League confirm Covid-19 decision affecting Leeds United fans

The Premier League have confirmed that Leeds United fans will not have to be double jabbed to continue attending matches.

In a meeting conducted on Wednesday concerning several Covid-19 related issues, the 20 clubs came to an agreement that it will not be compulsory for supporters to have to show proof that they have received both doses of the vaccination.

Clubs including Leeds can, however, request proof of a Covid-19 vaccination or negative test if they feel it is necessary and according to The Athletic, this policy is likely to remain until January at the earliest.

On the other hand, the government has confirmed that they will have to implement ‘plan B’ if Covid-19 cases and hospitalisations continue to rise throughout the autumn and winter months, where the Premier League will then have to ensure that only supporters who have been double jabbed will be permitted to attend.

If the government does decide to implement plan B, they will have to notify each club at least a week in advance.

In a statement released by the government last week, they said: "If Plan B is implemented, at that point the NHS COVID pass (which shows your vaccination details or test results) will change to display full vaccination only.

"Exemptions will continue to apply for those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, for those on COVID vaccine clinical trials, and for under-18s.

"Mandating vaccine-only certification would be preferable to closing venues entirely or re-imposing social distancing."
