The Premier League have announced that every single game in September will be shown live on television.
Supporters will not be allowed in stadiums until October at the earliest as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and fans had feared missing out on seeing their teams in action.
With matches being played behind closed doors, there was outrage from the Football Supporters Association that not every game in September was due to be shown on TV.
For example, Newcastle United and Burnley had no matches chosen for broadcast in September.
But following a meeting of stakeholders the Premier League have confirmed that Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC and Amazon Prime will broadcast all 28 matches.
After Sky Sports and BT Sport had already selected 17 matches to be shown live, the remaining 11 have been distributed among the Premier League’s UK broadcasters.
Sky have been handed a further six matches, with BT Sport showing three more and the BBC and Amazon Prime both showing one match.
Whilst no announcement has yet been made for October, the Premier League issued a statement confirming that options are being considered for future games.
They said: “In consultation with all relevant stakeholders, the Premier League is considering appropriate arrangements for matches which will take place after 1 October.
“The Premier League is working on a step-by-step approach, while monitoring the developments regarding the League’s number one priority of getting fans back into full stadia as soon as possible, with safety always being our priority.”
