Dates for the 2021-22 Premier League season have been confirmed.
The new season will begin on August 14, 2021, and conclude on May 22, 2022.
As with seasons past, the start date is flexible with the option of a Friday night game on August 13, though every game in the final round of fixtures will kick off simultaneously on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
After a condensed 2020-21 campaign due to the coronavirus pandemic, which saw the start of the season pushed back until September, 2020, the confirmed dates signal a return to the traditional August-May season schedule.
An earlier start date of August 7 had been mooted, an idea clubs were against due to the short gap between the Euro 2020 - the final of which will take place on July 11.
Pushing the start back by one week means there is no overlap with the start of the EFL season.
