Premier League confirm 10 new positive coronavirus cases after latest round of testing

The Premier League have confirmed 10 new positive cases of coronavirus across the division following the latest round of mandatory testing.

In an official statement released on Monday night, the English top-flight revealed that 10 unidentified personnel from an unknown number of clubs will now self-isolate for 10 days in line with Government protocol.

The latest positive tests came after a total of 1,595 players and staff from all 20 clubs were tested between September 21 and September 27.

Last Tuesday evening, West Ham confirmed that manager David Moyes, defender Issa Diop and midfielder Josh Cullen had all received positive tests for Covid-19 shortly before the Carabao Cup third-round tie against third-tier Hull City.

Diop and Cullen were both pulled from the starting XI ahead of kick-off, while Moyes was absent from the touchline and subsequently picked the team and tactics for Sunday's 4-0 win over Wolves from home with all three adhering to self-isolation guidelines.

Tottenham's cup tie against Leyton Orient on the same night was also cancelled due to multiple positive results being recorded by the League Two club, with Spurs eventually handed a bye into the next round.

"The Premier League can today confirm that between Monday 21 September and Sunday 27 September, 1,595 players and Club staff were tested for COVID-19," the Premier League said on Monday evening.

"Of these, there were 10 new positive tests.

"Players or Club staff who have tested positive will self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

"The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

"No specific details as to Clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."
