Premier League clubs set to discuss major concern at key meeting amid coronavirus crisis

Premier League clubs are reportedly set to 'make a push for crisis talks' with Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Reports suggest the top flight outfits all wish to avoid a bill of £750m which could be incurred if the season is concluded early and the remaining fixtures therefore are not televised.

The Mirror claim talks between clubs about trying to reach an agreement with the broadcasters, if the season does have to be concluded prematurely, have already taken place - but will be officially discussed on Friday in the the Premier League meeting.

Voiding the campaign off the table with all clubs said to be committed to finding a solution. There is one worry that in the event of cancelling the season clubs would owe millions in TV deals.

The cash made from these respective deals are a vital source of income to clubs, and some could struggle to pay what they owe if games are abandoned permanently.

Sky and BT Sport are reportedly understood to be 'flexible' in potentially deferring payments. Meanwhile, it is overseas broadcasters - which some of that £750m fee is footed by - who may be more difficult to convince.
