Premier League clubs set to discuss allowing TV cameras into dressing rooms

Premier League clubs are set to discuss the possibility of new innovative broadcasting ideas which may include inviting TV cameras into the dressing room.

Broadcasters have longed for such access having seen how it enhances the viewers experience in the USA.

Clubs are aiming to appease broadcasters as they look to negotiate the rebate they are due to pay which could be as low as £170m.

Sky Sports are likely to ask for a greater insight into Liverpool's title celebrations as well as the post-match dressing scenes when clubs avoid relegation or qualify for Europe, reports the Daily Mail.

However careful discussions will be required given the need to adhere to social distancing guidelines that are still in place.

Clubs will no doubt be wary of the backlash should they be seen to ignore the advice live on TV.

A Premier League meeting is set for next Thursday where a host of broadcaster requests will be discussed.

One of these is increased access to managers in the lead up to games so that they can talk through tactical plays.

Interviews with managers at half-time and pre-match dressing room access are other ideas set to be pitched.

Managers are likely to be reluctant to give more time to the media but they will have to balance that against the possibility of reducing the rebate bill for clubs.

Sky and BT are understood to be concerned by the continued presence of Amazon.

Several rounds of Premier League games were broadcast on Amazon this term, who also made behind-the-scenes documentaries on Manchester City's 2017/18 season and Tottenham's current campaign.
