Premier League clubs on alert as Inter Milan star Ryan Nolan hoping to secure transfer in search of first team football

A host of clubs have expressed interest in signing Inter Milan starlet Ryan Nolan.

The Shannon born centre-half has a year remaining on his current deal with the Italian giants.

Nolan is highly rated by the Serie A side, but it is understood that Inter are willing to allow the youngster to move in search of first team football.

The Co Clare man was captain of Inter's under-19 squad last season, and is now overage for the Primavera.

Premier League sides such as Watford, Brighton, Bournemouth and Leicester are all vying for Nolan's signature, while Leeds United are also keen.

Significant interest also comes from further afield with Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem and Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig interested in joining the race for the Co Clare man.

It is understood that a nominal transfer fee would be needed to secure Nolan's signature.

Nolan will take part in pre-season with Antonio Conte's side before making a decision on his future.

A source close to the player has indicated that Nolan is keen to secure a move to England where he will stand a better chance of earning a Republic of Ireland call-up.

He has not yet been capped at a competitive underage level by the Boys in Green and moved to Spain when he was eight and is still eligible for Las Rojas.

Nolan was named on the bench for two of Inter's Europa League games last season and also appeared for the first team during pre-season in 2018.

Speaking about Nolan back in October 2018, Republic of Ireland under 19 boss Tom Mohan said: “He's another player that is still on the radar but he's gone above my age group now.

“I capped Ryan first at U17 level. In that 1999 age group, we had a lot of good quality centre backs.

“Darragh O'Shea, James Finnerty, Aaron O'Driscoll, so with the competition at that particular time, I felt those players were ahead of Ryan.

“But he's done really well since. Jim Crawford capped him the following year at U18 so Ryan has been in our system.

“He's constantly being monitored but at the time, the competition was strong. He's a good lad. Fully committed.”

“He has a good professional attitude and definitely he was wholehearted about playing with us.”
