Premier League clubs including Everton and Liverpool delay decision on summer transfer window

Premier League clubs including Everton and Liverpool have delayed a decision regarding the summer transfer window.

As initially reported by the BBC, the ECHO understands top-flight teams are considering whether to extend the window by two weeks to help Football League clubs hit by difficulties following the outbreak of coronavirus.

UEFA are keen for the transfer window to close on 5 October before the start of the Champions League next season.

A final decision is now likely to be made at a Premier League meeting on 24 July where a start date for the new term could also be confirmed.

The BBC claim launching next season on 12 September remains the most likely option but that would land immediately after the September international break which would include a number of stars from both Everton and Liverpool.
