Premier League clubs 'could use sanitising tunnels to get fans back into stadiums'

Premier League football fans could soon return thanks to "CLeanTech" pods that have been developed for a Hong Kong exhibition centre.

The three- in-one disinfection machine was created to help the AsiaWorld-Expo centre host upcoming events.

And now football chiefs are discussing the idea of using the technology to help fans attend once games return.

The technology sees individuals walk through a pod before entering any given venue.

Fans would stand in front of the technology which would take their temperature and deem whether they are well enough proceed.

If the person is okay they then carry on to the "Sanitising Tunnel" which is where a combination of UV light and an air-sanitising and purification spray are used to kill off any other germs on clothes or belongings.

This process takes 12 seconds to complete.

The centre in Hong Kong is due to hold an Avril Lavigne concert on May 24 and will house 16,000 people.

Using such technology at football stadiums would be challenging but could help with the return of fixtures, claims The Sun.

Government and health ministers will meet with sport chiefs this week to discuss how and when they will bring back live action.

Premier League clubs are determined to finish the current campaign and will receive an update on the options available to them once the lockdown ends.

Arsenal began training again this week but have adhered to social distancing measures.

Most top flight teams have nine games to complete before the season can draw to a close.

But in the last week Ligue 1 and the Eredivisie have declared their campaigns void due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Bundesliga however is planning to resume in May with nine games remaining for most sides.
