Premier League club set to make 'improved offer' for Nottingham Forest ace

Premier League new boys Brentford are said to remain interested in Brennan Johnson and are reportedly ready to make an “improved offer” for the Nottingham Forest starlet.

Following a stunning loan spell with League One Lincoln City last season, the exciting forward is hot property this summer.

Brentford and Leeds United are among the clubs to be linked with the Wales international and son of former Forest striker David.

Having already made one bid for Johnson, believed to be around £3.5million, Brentford are ready to test Forest’s resolve again, with Sun reporter Alan Nixon tweeting today: “Brentford. Won’t leave the Brennan Johnson thing alone. Expect an improved offer made to Nottingham Forest very shortly …”

According to The Athletic, Brentford are prepared to go as high as £5million, although that is still short of Forest's valuation, believed to be £8million to £10million.

Reds fans want the club to hang on to the Nigel Doughty Academy graduate so the youngster can make an impression on Chris Hughton’s first team this season.

Johnson underlined his quality with both Forest goals in the 2-2 draw at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Asked how big a part Johnson can play for the Reds this season, Hughton said: "We'll see. The only thing I can say is I've been delighted with him so far.

"That's where we are at this moment, and I can only speak about where we are at this moment.

"But in pre-season we have played against non-Championship sides. Come the start of the season, the levels will be a lot higher.

"But I've been really delighted with him so far."
