Premier League club 'set to make £6m bid' for Nottingham Forest attacker

Brentford have reportedly launched a second bid for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.

The newly-promoted Premier League side are hoping that £6million will be enough to persuade Forest to sell the 20-year-old, according to The Sun.

Johnson spent last season on loan at League One side Lincoln City and scored 13 goals in 49 appearances under the management of Michael Appleton.

His impressive displays are said to have caught the eye of Brentford, who are building their squad with Premier League survival in mind.

The youngster, whose father is former Forest striker David, is also a senior Wales international but is yet to make a Championship appearance in his career to date.

Brentford are reported to have failed with an opening offer that only guaranteed Forest £2million up front.

The Reds will be keen to hang on to one of their brightest young talents, though a sizeable fee could allow Chris Hughton to add to his squad in this transfer window.

To date, Forest have only added goalkeeper Ethan Horvath to their first team ranks.

The United States international joined on a free transfer after leaving Belgian side Club Brugge.
