Premier League and government in TV agreement talks that would delight Everton and Liverpool fans

Every Premier League match could be televised until supporters are allowed back into stadiums.

All football games have been played behind closed doors since the Premier League returned in June due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every top-flight fixture was shown on TV at the end of the 2019/20 season, as a result, and talks have begun over a plan to implement the same plan whilst supporters are banned from stadiums.

The Times report that the government and the Premier League are discussing a plan to extend TV access while games are either behind closed doors or at a limited capacity.

Sky Sports and BT Sport have already made provisions to expand their coverage if an agreement is reached, although it's unlikely the government will make the same push for some matches to be free to air.

Supporters will not be allowed back into grounds until October and even then that is expected to be at a strict 25% capacity, leaving many fans unable to follow their team.

The Premier League had initially insisted their usual agreement with broadcasters would remain for 2020/21, with just an additional 20 games offered, leaving 160 games unavailable to be viewed.

The report also states that there is unlikely to be any extra money offered for an extension of coverage, with broadcasters still being paid back a rebate from last season.

This follows the English Football League's announcement that all matches in the Championship, League One and League Two will either be available through Sky or streamed via the iFollow platform/ the club's in-house media platform.
