An extended transfer window stretching into October is being considered for deals between Premier League and English Football League clubs.

Uefa has recommended that the domestic leagues of all its member associations close their windows no later than Monday 5 October, a fortnight before the new Champions League and Europa League campaigns are set to begin.

The Premier League is understood to be likely to follow that guidance for international transfers, however, representatives of the 20 clubs are discussing a two-week extension for national transfers, with the window closing on 19 October.

The proposal was discussed at a video conference for shareholders on Thursday, but no final decision was taken on the start and end date of the window.

A decision is expected to be finalised by the next shareholders' meeting on 24 July, the week in which the 2019/20 Premier League season will come to a close.
