The Premier League has admitted that VAR made an error in Tottenham's goalless draw with Bournemouth and Spurs should have been awarded a first-half penalty.
Harry Kane was brought to the ground following a challenge from Bournemouth striker Joshua King after a corner but, following a VAR check, no spot-kick was awarded.
The decision infuriated Jose Mourinho and he is unlikely to be welcoming of the Premier League's verdict, as it raises further questions about the technology following a controversial debut season in England.
"The game has the most important moment and I don’t want to say any more in relation to that. Everybody knows. You know who, you know when... Everybody knows,” he told Sky Sports.
"The same referee who did the VAR decision against Sheffield United - Michael Oliver. Opinions matter. It’s not only mine, everybody knows that is a penalty and when I say everybody, I mean everybody.
"Everybody.
"I’m not saying Harry Kane 100% would score but his penalty range is high so usually we could win 1-0 against teams."
And the Premier League agrees with the Spurs boss.
BBC presenter Dan Walker said on Match of the Day that the Premier League's match centre had confirmed that the penalty decision should have been overturned by a VAR check.
It came as part of a forgetful evening for VAR, as penalty decisions in the two other matches on Thursday night should have also been overturned, the Premier League admitted.
Manchester United and Southampton were both awarded penalties in their matches against Bournemouth and Everton that should not have been given.
VAR is set for changes next season, as FIFA is taking direct responsibility from rule-makers IFAB and is expected to insist on greater consistency across over 100 global leagues.
