Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will only be available for one of Denmark's three international fixtures this month.
A regular for his country over the past couple of years after making a big impression in the Premier League, the Tottenham midfielder was called up for their upcoming fixtures against Sweden, Iceland and Belgium.
However, football.london understands that he will now only be playing in one of those games following an outbreak of a new strain of Covid-19 in his native Denmark.
The new rule changes mean that anyone returning from Denmark would have to isolate for 14 days but the Premier League has now advised clubs not to release players if there is a mandatory period of quarantine of at least five days upon arrival to, or return from, the country they go.
That would have meant that Hojbjerg would have been absent for Tottenham's crunch Premier League games against Man City and Chelsea once league action resumes later this month.
However, the good news for Jose Mourinho and Tottenham is that their midfield ace will be able to take part in the games as Spurs look to push on and challenge towards the top end of the league.
Given the change in rules, Hojbjerg, and his fellow Premier League Danes, will only be available for the UEFA Nations League game against Belgium on Wednesday, November 18 as it is due to be played in Brussels.
Prior to the game against Roberto Martinez's side, Denmark face Sweden and Iceland at home but they will now be without a handful of their key players for the fixtures.
Hojbjerg is one of a number of Tottenham players called up for international football this month.
Following Sunday's Premier League clash away at West Brom, the Lilywhites will next be in action in the league on Saturday, November 21 when they host Man City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
