Premier Inn joins Eat Out to Help Out scheme with unlimited breakfast for £4.50

Premier Inn restaurants will join the government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme that starts next month.

The chain, part of the Whitbread hotels and restaurants group, will be giving diners 50% off their food bill between Mondays and Wednesdays.

The scheme will include Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Table Table, Whitbread Inns, Cookhouse + Pub and Bar + Block and Premier Inn integrated restaurants.

Anyone visiting an in-house restaurant at Premier Inn will be able to get an unlimited breakfast for £4.50 and two children can eat free with a full paying adult.

Sadly the chain will no longer be offering a buffet service in line with Covid-19 restrictions and government guidelines. However, diners will be able to order as much as they like for breakfast using table service instead.

Diners can still earn loyalty points when using the scheme (PA)

The scheme can also be used in conjunction with existing restaurant loyalty schemes, meaning guests can still earn points when dining too.

Speaking about the move, Phil Birbeck, Managing Director Whitbread Restaurants said: “The Government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme will give a much-needed boost to the hospitality industry. Our restaurants have introduced a range of measures to keep our guests and team safe, so that when our guests are ready, they can dine with us in confidence and feel assured that their well-being is of utmost importance to us. We are looking forward to welcoming back our guests and hope that the scheme will encourage people to dine with us.”

Whitbread has confirmed the entire restaurant portfolio will have reopened by 5 August and will all participate in the scheme, joining other major chains like McDonald's, Costa and Nando's.

The government's discount scheme has been introduced as part of Chancellor Rishi Sunak's efforts to get people eating out again, with the government pledging to cover half the cost of people's meals out in August. It is hoped that the scheme will help jump start the ailing hospitality industry, which has been one of the hardest hit during lockdown.
