Lost in Showbiz is rooting for Lily Allen as she struggles to give up smoking now she is preggers. As a 'pal' told The Sun:
She realises it will be a struggle, but her baby is more important.
Apart from the slightly confusing syntax there, don't you love the sentiment? I mean, how very impressive of her. Baby...cigarette...baby...cigarette...you can see how her mind works.
With the intention of encouraging her in this tough fight to do what's right, I'd like to ask you to report every time Lily is seen puffing away starting from today. Our very own shaming process, if you like. We'll let her off last week's transgression because she hadn't started seeing her Harley Street hypnotherapist yet.
All that said, I have a French cousin who has six beautiful, healthy children. She gave up smoking her Gauloises Blondes for pregnancies one to five, but the sixth time she didn't. At the time she joked that it might even be beneficial, as she wanted the baby to be as small as possible for an easy birth. Number six was - needless to say - the biggest and most robust newborn of the lot. Not, I hasten to add, that Lily should take anything from this. Nor, dear reader, should you.
