Pregnant woman slammed as 'entitled' for parking in disabled space

A pregnant woman has been slammed as "entitled" and "unreasonable" for parking in a disabled bay.

The expectant mum's friend was less than impressed when the pair visited a supermarket - and took to Mumsnet to share her experience, sparking furious replies.

Describing how the situation unfolded, the anonymous user said: "As we drive around she pulls into a disabled space.

"I didn't think she had realised so I said: 'Oh this isn't parent and child, it's disabled.'

"To which she tells me that as she is pregnant, she is fine to park in disabled?!

"I replied saying I didn't think that was true and we should probably move.

"She said she wasn't and tbh I didn't want the hassle of an argument as she had done me a favour by driving so I shut up."

She then claims they were confronted by a woman in the car park who berated them for using the disabled parking bay.

"When we are getting back in the car I was folding the buggy etc when a lady approaches and starts having a go at me for using the space?!" she said.

The Blue Badge scheme: everything you need to know

"Saying how it is not for child and parents. I didn't get a chance to say anything back to this woman as she stormed off mid shout about how inconsiderate I was.

"Friend just stands there and then raises an eyebrow to me.

"In the car I bring up the woman shouting at me and friend just says 'oh don't let her ruin your day'."

'Your friend is inconsiderate'

Perhaps unsurprisingly, other parents on the website didn't think highly of her friend's actions.

One commented: "Your friend is being very very unreasonable."

"Being pregnant can be difficult, it is not a disability," another said.

"As I’m sure you know, your friend is rude, inconsiderate, entitled and not to mention a bloody idiot."

A third said: "Your friend is being rude and arrogant. Disabled bays are for disabled people."

However, not everyone thought the expectant mother was being unreasonable.

One user said: "I think your friend should park where she likes.

"If there were loads of disabled bays then i don't see what the issue is. People shouldn't be so touchy about parking."
