Detectives have charged a 46-year-old man with a number of offences after an alleged incident in North Belfast on Thursday.
Police say the charge relates to a reported 'serious assault' of a pregnant woman at Ainsworth Drive on August 6 - she is currently in a stable condition in hospital, they say.
The accused is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Saturday August 8 charged with "attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon and grievous bodily harm with intent".
As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.
