Pregnant woman has miraculous escape after tree falls on her car on Clonliffe Road, Drumcondra

A pregnant woman had an extremely lucky escape after her car was hit by a tree that had fallen in high winds in north Dublin this morning.

The woman was miraculously uninjured after the tree fell on Clonliffe Road in Drumcondra at around 9am this morning.

Emergency services including gardai, firefighters and paramedics raced to the scene but the lucky woman didn't even need hospital treatment after the terrifying ordeal.

Dublin Fire Brigade said: "This morning, Firefighter/Paramedics from North Strand responded to reports of a car struck by a fallen tree on Clonliffe Road.

"Fortunately the driver of the car didn't require hospital treatment. The Status Yellow wind warning has been extended to the whole country."

Work has been carried out on trees in the area in recent days.

A Dublin City Council spokesman told Dublin Live there will be an investigation into the incident.

He said: "A number of trees came down overnight throughout the city due to high winds.

"One of them was on the Clonliffe Road. As usual any incident resulting from a fallen tree will be examined."

Met Eireann have extended the Status Yellow wind warning until 9pm across the whole country.

The forecaster has warned people to expect "damaging gusts" of up to 100km in some areas.
