Pregnant woman furious after family member uses baby's name for pet dog

A pregnant woman has kicked off after claiming a family member stole her baby's name, only to give it to a puppy.

Speaking on Reddit, the woman wrote a post titled 'FML - close family member just named their new puppy with out baby name'. In the post, she explains how the name she intended to give to her baby, which she only told to a select few, was completely copied for the pet pooch.

She highlighted that the close family member didn't even bother to change the spelling and took the first and middle name verbatim, the Mirror reports.

In the post, she writes: "Just like the title said. I've seen stories like this but never thought I would be here. They got the first and middle name, spelling exactly how we were planning.

"We haven't publicly announced the name. The only people that we told are the grandparents.

"Both mom and mother-in-law are not known for an ability to keep secrets, though it has been sworn up and down that the name was not leaked.

"I am disappointed, but trying not to be too dramatic. That is why I am here and not texting family." She added: "At this point, I'm leaning towards just using it anyway. Neither of us owns the name…"

The thread has since garned hundreds of comments, with many people encouraging her to continue using the name. One person advised: "This is obvious to you and your immediate family, but in the span of the baby's life and all the people they'll meet, almost no one will know this."

Sharing their own experience, a second wrote: "When we got a cat a few years ago, my single sister at the time was a little disappointed to hear the name because it's one she wanted to use in the future.

They added: "I told her she should feel free to use it still because almost no one else beside our family will know the cat and baby share a name. Also by the time she has kids who even knows how long they will both be alive at the same time."
