Pregnant woman caught stealing $1,600 buggy in CCTV footage as she walks out of store

A pregnant woman has been caught stealing a $1,600 (£1,300) buggy in CCTV footage.

The baby boutique in Toulca Lake, Los Angeles, US, has published the video hoping to find the culprits.

The pregnant lady walks into the store appearing to be on the phone.

After greeting the woman, shop owner Diane Lapadjyan stepped out to help another customer outside the store.

At that moment a man comes in, picks the stroller up and casually walks out of the store.

Ms Lapadjyan came back to find them gone and realised the stroller had been stolen.

She said: "I pulled up our footage and I saw exactly what happened.

"I mean, I was in disbelief - it was like watching a movie."

Ms Lapadjyan, owner of the Little Sprouts baby store, isn't letting the theft get her down.

She said: "And the end of the day, you have to laugh about it. What can you do?"

She has asked neighbours to share any video caught of the two suspects with police.

Although some thoughtful neighbours have offered to help replace the stroller, Ms Lapadjyan has asked money be donated to Children's Hospital of Los Angeles instead.

In other buggy-related news, shocked parents pushing their seven-month-old narrowly avoided being ploughed down by a bus at a zebra crossing.

Dan Overy and his partner Juliet Mayne had been pushing their daughter in her buggy but, despite reaching the zebra crossing, they had to stop to dodge the vehicle as it surged down the road.

But the family was on the crossing for four seconds and had to pause as the bus passed, even waving in frustration at the apparently oblivious driver.

Ms Mayne, 39, said the zebra crossing, in Lowford, Hampshire, has become notorious for accidents and near-misses in recent years.

"People use the road as a cut-through to avoid the busy Windhover Roundabout," the mum of two said.

"Portsmouth Road is very dangerous at peak times, but even dangerous at other times too. It was really scary.

"If the buggy had been a bit further forward, it could've been hit. We should feel we can use a zebra crossing safely.

"A pedestrian crossing with traffic lights is the only solution."
