A pregnant woman and her unborn baby have been killed and three others seriously injured following a horror head-on car crash.
The 21-year-old, who was eight months pregnant, was sat in the passenger seat of a car when it was struck by another vehicle in Perth, Australia.
She was taken to hospital but tragically died. She was named by Nine Network as Maddie Morgan.
Her boyfriend Jack Bryant, 23, was driving the couple when the tragedy happened at about 7.45pm local time on Friday.
The couple's car split in two, smashing debris across the road.
Mr Bryant suffered serious head and chest injuries and is fighting for his life at the Royal Perth Hospital.
According to the Western Australian, Jack woke from a coma last night, but it is not known if he was told about his girlfriend's death.
The 23-year-old male driver of the Ford Falcon and a 19-year-old passenger were also seriously injured while another teenage passenger was uninjured.
The driver of the Ford has since been discharged from hospital, and will be questioned by police.
Off-duty nurse John Walker, who was travelling behind the couple, helped them before the paramedics arrived. He described the sound of the crash like "a bomb going off".
A friend of Michelle and Jack, who were expecting their first child in less than three weeks, described the tragedy as "unfair".
“He was happy to be a dad, and happy to be starting this new stage in his life,” he told Nine Network.
