Pregnant voter rushed to hospital from polling station

SURAT THANI: A heavily pregnant woman was rushed to hospital to give birth as soon as she cast her ballot at a polling station in Ban Nasan district of this southern province in Sunday's advance voting.

Siriporn Kaewprasit, 34, a voter from tambon Na Pradu of Pattani's Khok Pho district, was in a long queue of people waiting to vote at a polling station for advance voting outside their constituencies when she suddenly went into labour.

Officials at the polling unit in Surat Thani's Constituency 3 made an urgent call for an ambulance.

Watched by other advance voters giving her moral support, the officials helped her jump the queue and moved her into a voting cubicle. She was then rushed safely to Ban Nasan Hospital's delivery room.

A total of 1,295 people registered for advance voting at the polling station.
