Pregnant Laura Whitmore hits back at trolls who tried to shame her baby bump joy

Pregnant Laura Whitmore hit back at online trolls who tried to criticise her for proudly showing off her blossoming baby bump.

The 35-year-old TV presenter delighted fans earlier this month when she announced she is expecting her first ever child following reports of a surprise wedding to Love Island co-star Iain Stirling.

On Saturday evening, Laura took to Instagram to share a photograph of herself reclining on a large white sofa while cradling her bump and while wearing underwear and a classic denim jacket.

Using the photograph to make a satirical joke, the star alluded to the fact that London and huge swathes of the UK were being plunged into Tier 4 lockdown at the stroke of midnight.

She wrote: “Guess it’s the sofa for the next while so... #tier4life.”

While her update was met with messages of amusement at her joke and admiration of her developing pregnancy, some bitter Instagram users seized the opportunity to make disparaging comments.

However, Laura was ready to defend herself and hit back at the online trolls.

When one catty follower commented: “Wheres your dignity, girl? Less is more” Laura swiftly hit back: “Where's yours?” followed by a thinking emoji.

Another bitter critic remarked: “You were literally saying two minutes ago, that you weren't promoting your pregnancy. Literally bored of it already.”

But Larua astutely replied: “Looks more like I'm ‘promoting’ my upcoming sofa use…”

And when another follower attempted to shame her by asking why she was “showing off” her blossoming bump, Laura cooly replied: “Because it's my choice what I show, quite simple really.”

Many fans have been stunned that Laura has kept her pregnancy a secret for so long.

One fan gushed: “Stunning wish I looked so good at 6 months pregnant enjoy every minute,” alongside a red hear emoji.

While another declared her photo was “empowering”.

The Love Island presenter had revealed during an interview with Hunger Magazine that for "almost six months" she had been aware of her changing body before her pregnancy was announced.
