Laura Whitmore confirmed she is expecting a baby girl with husband Iain Stirling.
The TV star, who is appearing on The Late Late Show tonight, shared the news in an excerpt from her new self-help book No One Can Change Your Life Except For You.
Writing in the final chapter Laura, 35, from Bray, Co Wicklow, said: “As I finish this book, it doesn’t end at chapter nine, there’s a new chapter coming into my life – in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me and that scares the s**t out of me.
“I once swallowed a bug and freaked out there was a live bug inside me. A live human is a whole new level of freaking out but I am excited because there’s a lot of good in the world, there’s a lot of potential.”
The Love Island presenter, who is due to give birth this month, added: “I want to bring up my child knowing that she has her own story to write.
“She will be supported and loved. But she is the heroine of her own life, no one else.
“We aren’t built to have it all figured out. Imagine how boring a tale that would be! But we have the tools and capabilities to get through anything.”
Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on ITV yesterday, Laura said the book is not about becoming a mum.
She added: “It wasn’t necessarily written when I knew I was pregnant so it’s not about pregnancy, I’ll tell you that now, but there’s lot of things in there that I’ve picked up over the years.”
Laura and Iain tied the knot last November in a secret wedding at Dublin’s City Hall after three years of dating.
