Pregnant Katy Perry bravely tells she was suicidal after Orlando Bloom 2017 split

Pregnant Katy Perry bravely told how she was left suicidal after Orlando Bloom 2017 split.

For the first time, the pregnant singer has now recalled how she was left hopeless and wracked with heartache in 2017 following her temporary split from the actor.

Heartbreak left Katy, 35, "broken in half" and the songstress admitted she "crashed" as she reflected on the past in a new interview.

At the same time, her album Witness failed to match the soaring success of her 2013 album Prism.

Katy said she was left "wallowing" in her "own sadness" but it was "gratitude" which saved her life.

She told The Sun : "Gratitude is probably the thing that saved my life, because if I did not find that I would have wallowed in my own sadness and probably just jumped."

Katy and Orlando have happily got back together, much to the delight of their fans.

The couple have been preparing to welcome their first child together in the summer; Orlando already has a son Flynn with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

They have plans to get married in Japan which have temporarily been put on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe.

Katy shared her heartache with the world as she admitted their break up had shattered her into pieces.

She added: "My career was on this trajectory when it was going up, up and up and then I had the smallest shift, not that huge from an outside perspective. But for me it was seismic.

“I had given so much out, and it literally broke me in half. I had broken up with my boyfriend, who is now my baby daddy-to-be... so I just crashed.”

Previously, Katy has spoken out about her mental health struggles.

The singer documented how depression left her not wanting to get out of bed in the toughest years of her life in 2017 and 2018.

She told Vogue India in January: “I became depressed and I did not want to get out of bed.

“In the past, I had been able to overcome it, but this time something happened that made me fall down too many flights of stairs. I had to really go on a mental health journey.”
