Gemma Atkinson has shared a poignant photo of herself and fiance Gorka Marquez climbing a mountain in memory of her father.
The former Emmerdale actress didn’t let a little matter of being pregnant get in the way of her climb, saying she knew her dad “somehow helped drag me up there”.
Gemma, 34, shared the cute image of her and Gorka, 28, at the top of Mount Teide - a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain.
She explained to her fans that she used to climb it every year with her father David, who died from a heart attack when she was just 17, and this is the first time she’d been back since then, adding the climb was "bittersweet".
She posted: “Last week me and Gorks climbed Mount Teide.
"I haven’t been here since my dad passed away (we used to come every year and do the hike) so it was bittersweet, but I know he somehow helped drag me up there.”
In an interview with Woman magazine last year, Gemma said she wished that her dad could have met Gorka, who she met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.
She said: “I think he’d love him. He’d say he’s a gentleman. Everyone who’s met Gorka says that.”
The loved-up pair announced they were to become parents last month by posting an adorable photo of their dogs Ollie and Norman on Instagram, posing with little signs around their necks.
On the left, Sproodle Norman’s sigh says: “Guess what… Mummy’s pregnant!”
Cocker Spaniel Ollie, on the right, has one that says: “We’re going to be big brothers!”
