Pregnant Gemma Atkinson refuses to find out her baby's due date over major fear

Gemma Atkinson has admitted she doesn't want to find out when her baby is due in an effort to not become "too obsessed" over a date.

The soap star, 38, is currently pregnant with her second child with Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez.

They have both decided to ask for a vague timeframe rather than a specific date on when their son is due to be born.

Gemma and Gorka have been told their baby is due around the end of June to the beginning of July.

"I've been asked this a lot but I've specifically asked for a time frame instead of a due date for a few reasons… 1. I think we become too obsessed with that one day," she explained.

"2. If there arrive before or after that day we start 'they are late or early panic / anxiety'. So with that in mind I've asked for a 'timeframe'.

"I've been told any time from the back few weeks in June to the front few weeks in July he could be coming. Happier me that way as I'm more chilled and accepting of he'll come when he's ready."

The actress also replied to a follower who opened up about being a week overdue and how people kept pestering her.

Gemma told her fan: “That’s the thing with just a date. The last thing you want is people mithering and adding pressure.

"We genuinely go in to labour when we feel relaxed, safe and calm and being constantly badgered by people about being overdue will put your body and mind in the opposite state.”

Gemma has been using her social media to share small updates on her pregnancy journey with her 1.8 million fans but recently had to shut down trolls after she was slammed over her new baby's adorable nursery.

The star showed off personalised murals painted in her children's rooms, with her daughter Mia getting a 'Mia's Magic Fairy Forest' with gorgeous drawings of a fairy and a unicorn in an enchanted forest.

Her baby boy's room is just as personalised with the baby blue walls covered in drawings of animals relaxing on clouds.

Despite the wholesome content, trolls found something to be upset about and spent time DMing the star.

"Not saying this in a judgy way because I think it's absolutely beautiful and I'm sure you've chosen something you know she will love..." Gemma shared one of the messages.

"But it really plays into society's gender stereotypes for girls, doesn't it? Pink, fairies, rainbows, pretty things... And blue for a boy."

Gemma responded: "I've had a few of these msgs and I find it really baffling.

"We didn't choose Mia's room. She did. She told the painter all [of] her favourite colours & [the] characters she wanted. I designed the nursery with animals which I love & blue is my favourite colours. Always has been because it reminds me of the ocean."

She continued: "I've actually never been into pink. It doesn't mean I'm going against a stereotype or I want to be a boy or that I'm anti 'girl colours'. It simply means that my favourite colour is blue and not pink."

"Jesus Christ give me strength today," she concluded along with a few laughing emojis.
