Pregnant Gemma Atkinson makes vow to her unborn son as she addresses extra check-ups to curb 'daily thought'

Gemma Atkinson has made a vow to her unborn son which didn't pass her fans by as they quickly heaped her with praise. The Hits Radio host is expecting her second child with her Strictly Come Dancing star fiance Gorka Marquez.

The couple, who already share daughter Mia, announced the wonderful news back in January after Gemma said it became "impossible" to hide her bump any longer. "Our baby boy will be joining our family later this year," she added alongside the joint Instagram post. "We feel so incredibly blessed and Grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled!"

The 38-year-old, from Bury, has since been keeping her fans and followers updated as she navigates her second pregnancy in her usual honest and humorous style. And Gemma has repeatedly been praised for sharing her workouts on her Instagram page as she continues to spend some time in the gym.

"Ain’t giving up on you little man," she captioned her latest post which showed her, blossoming baby bump and all, as she performed a series of moves in her home gym at her Greater Manchester home. "My priority in this ever changing body since I saw that positive pregnancy test.

"Today's session from @hatch_athletic fellow mum, pre and postpartum coach and woman’s health physio so all pregnancy approved for me," she added before detailing the exercises. "Finished with my usual stretch routine. Norman's favourite bit as he gets to lick the sweat off me," Gemma continued.

"Wasn’t up to much a few days ago as little fella decided to lay transverse & back to back which wasn’t the comfiest at all. It wrecked! However, I listened to a 30 min podcast on all fours doing gentle rocking & moving and gravity did it’s thing and thankfully flipped him!

"The discomfort subsided and the kicks were back to being low as apposed to upwards so I’ll be thanking him for that what he arrives. I had my checks as well on Monday with my midwife Rach and my bloods and water samples came back spot on. Perfect she said! As well as my blood pressure and resting heart rate. All the stuff that makes me happy."

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star then rounded off her post by saying: "Any mum to be I'm sure will agree that every day there’s always a little “please make sure we’re both ok” thought. So the reassurance always settles that for me."

And fans were quick to respond. @fjay2201 said: "You look amazing! @glouiseatkinson such an inspiration love watching your workouts." @redmansally commented: "You are truly my inspiration. I couldn’t do half the training you do & your with child! Honestly, cracking lady."

@charlottehinchley wrote: "You are a total legend. I was determined to stay active during my 2nd pregnancy and the anxiety got to me and it all went to shit. You're a rock star, keep going." @sharonwhinfield posted: "Amazing on all counts." @lindsay_ball replied: "Doing amazing mama." @leopards_rainbows added: "Amazing. Your children will forever have this memory of you and how much looking after yourself and them meant to you."

It comes after Gemma told how she hadn't asked for a 'due date' for her unborn son as she shared a screengrab of a message she received in which she was asked when her 'little man' was due. "Hope you don't mind me asking," one of her loyal followers added. "Don't mind at all," Gemma prefaced her reply.

The former Emmerdale and Hollyoaks star then continued: "I've been asked this a lot but I've specifically asked for a time frame instead of a due date for a few reasons..." Sharing why, she went on: "1. I think we become too obsessed with that one day. 2. If they arrive before or after that day we start with 'they are late or early panic/anxiety'.

"So with that in mind, I've asked for a 'timeframe'. I've been told any time from the back few weeks in June to the front few weeks in July he could be coming. Happier me that way as I'm more chilled and accepted of he'll come when he's ready."
