A man has been arrested and charged after a pregnant woman was beaten so badly that she lost her baby.
The horrific incident took place in the Dame Street area of Dublin in the early hours of April 25.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on Tuesday and detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and was subsequently charged.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí investigating the serious assault of a female that occurred in the early hours of 25/04/2021 in Dublin 2 have arrested and charged a man.
"The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on 18/05/2021 and detained at Pearse Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
"He has since been charged in relation to this investigation and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice.
