Pregnant dog found wandering Greater Manchester streets had been stolen in Scotland

A pregnant dog that was snatched from a garden in Scotland has been tracked down in Denton.

Minnie the Shih Tzu/Chihuahua cross was stolen from a property in Raploch, Stirling, around 2pm on March 27.

A Husky puppy was then stolen by a man matching the same description at a petrol station near Dunblane.

Police launched an urgent appeal to find the pets and the suspected thief, who was driving a blue Land Rover.

But the story took a positive turn after four-year-old Minnie was discovered by a member of the public wandering the Denton area on Wednesday (March 31).

They then called police and took in Minnie, who is pregnant, after suspecting she may be a missing dog.

Minnie's owner, Catlin McKenna, posted her reaction to the news on Facebook, saying: "Thank you to each and every single person out of the THOUSANDS that shared this status and the others, it just shows the power of social media.

"She was found in Manchester which is crazy. I hope every single person who has lost or had there animal taken gets there babies back too!"

Police confirmed enquiries were still ongoing around both cases, the Daily Record reports.

The suspect is described as white and in his mid 30s, heavy built, around 5’10, and with mousy brown, shaggy long hair.

He also is reported as having a long brown beard and was wearing a yellow high-vis waistcoat and jeans.

Police say he may have been accompanied by a white male child, aged between 10 and 11 during the time of the thefts.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police using the non-emergency number 101.
