Pregnant Danielle Armstrong admits she's in therapy after suffering prenatal depression

Danielle Armstrong has admitted that she is in therapy after she opened up about battling prenatal depression.

The former TOWIE star, 31, is expecting her first child but admitted that she didn't find her pregnancy as exciting as she hoped it would be.

Her first trimester was marred by severe morning sickness and she would often find herself sat on the sofa and crying for hours.

She told Closer magazine: "People don’t often speak about the downsides of pregnancy but hundreds of women messaged me saying they're pleased I spoke out – it’s called prenatal depression and it’s really common."

Danielle credits going to therapy and her boyfriend and babydaddy Tom for helping her through it.

She continued: "The second trimester has been so much better. I've been going to therapy for a year now, because my anxiety was so bad and I'd lost one of my closest friends [Sammy Brandon, who died from breast cancer in June last year, aged 29].

"When Tom and I started dating, I told him and he's been really supportive. Now my anxiety has massively eased and I'm in a good place – but that doesn't mean I should stop going to therapy."

Danielle filmed a behind-the-scenes video of her photoshoot with the magazine.

She posed in several evening gowns and lingerie sets, complaining that she'd been given big granny knickers to wear.

Danielle is expecting a baby girl in May next year.

She and Tom met when they were in school but didn't get together until earlier this year.

They moved in together within weeks and had only been together for four months before she found out she was pregnant.

Speaking about their whirlwind relationship, Danielle said in a recent YouTube video: "Basically I met Tom, I moved in with him, then I got pregnant

"He's been known for the last four months just as 'mystery man'."
