Pregnant Alex Jones shares sweet bump selfie as she approaches her due date

Alex Jones was "really excited" when she found out she was expecting a baby girl.

"I thought our time had passed to have a girl and that it wasn’t going to happen," she told The Mirror at the time.

The One Show presenter has been keeping fans updated with her pregnancy, and she showed off her ever growing bump as she posted a selfie on her Instagram story.

The baby will be Alex and husband Charlie Thomson's third child - a little sister for sons Edward and Kit.

"Getting bigger....." she captioned the snap, shared with her 300,000 Instagram followers.

Alex has been open about her pregnancy from the start, admitting that she is thrilled to be expecting a baby girl, after wanting one for a long time.

Asked about the impending arrival, she said: "Really excited! It’s a huge gift. Wanting a girl was always something that was there, although I would never have said it because we’re so lucky to have two lovely boys.

The 44-year-old star revealed her husband was also thrilled to be having a little girl too.

"We both said how amazing three boys would be," she shared.

"Then when we opened the email which told us the sex of the baby, his little face was a picture. We were too scared to say it, but I think we both felt the same. We had both secretly thought it would be amazing if it was a girl."

She continued: "It’ll be really interesting to see the different dynamics. I’m such a pushover with the boys."

Alex has been pregnant throughout lockdown and she admits it's a completely different experience compared to what she was used to before.

"I guess so. I haven’t seen any midwives at all in person during the pandemic," she said when asked if pregnancy was different this time around.

"I’ve had two scans and that’s it. For me that’s OK, because by this time around I hope I’d know if something was wrong. That’s why I’m grateful for the fact that it’s our third. I’m just hoping that everything’s OK because I feel OK."
