Predicted Spurs team vs Burnley: Jose Mourinho to make major midfield changes

Burnley visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon with Jose Mourinho's side looking to return to winning ways after the disappointing defeat at Manchester United.

Mourinho was unimpressed with his team's efforts at Old Trafford and he will make at least a couple of changes for the visit of Burnley.

Eric Dier is likely to come back into the team to provide that screen in front of the back four with the Spurs head coach saying he had been wary that the England international had played three games in quick succession after a long time without regular football.

Mourinho also said that he did not feel Tanguy Ndombele was in the best condition to start against United and the 22-year-old Frenchman could also return alongside Dier to provide a bit of flair and drive to the midfield.

Tottenham v Burnley: Jose Mourinho press conference in full

Having looked like it had come back to life in his first three matches, Spurs' attack spluttered against Manchester United and Mourinho could look to make a change in those attacking midfield slots.

He has the option to push Moussa Sissoko back up on to the right where he impressed against Bournemouth or he could hand a first start during his reign to Giovani Lo Celso.

Mourinho said on Friday that he believes Sissoko's best position is on the right and that he is not a natural 'positional' central midfielder.

There is also the dead rubber match at Bayern Munich to consider where Mourinho will be able to give game time to various players like Lo Celso, while he has already said he will use youngsters Ryan Sessegnon, Kyle Walker-Peters, Oliver Skipp and Troy Parrott out in Germany.

Against Burnley, the new head coach could also decide to bring Danny Rose's fresh legs back in at left-back with Jan Vertonghen either moving inside into central defence or on to the bench.

Here is the team we reckon Mourinho could go with against Burnley and it's the same one that faced the Cherries a week ago:

(4-2-3-1) Gazzaniga; Aurier, Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen; Dier, Ndombele; Sissoko, Alli, Son; Kane.
