Newcastle United know they face another tough test when they welcome Manchester City to St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.
Eddie Howe's side lost 3-1 to Liverpool during the week which left them joint-bottom of the Premier League.
A home fixture against Pep Guardiola's City side fresh from a 7-0 drubbing of Leeds United is the last thing the Toon would have wanted as they continue to battle against relegation.
Howe has already said that he will rotate his side due to not only injury but the amount of energy and effort expended against Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Howe, speaking at his pre-Man City press conference, said: "I think that the challenge we face in these two games is the reality is we are going to be without the ball for long periods of time.
"Then the physical effort and the exertion of the players is really tested. A lot of the other players we had were suffering with fatigue due to the fact we were without the ball for long periods.
"We are going to obviously need to rotate the team and make sure the team that takes the pitch is as fresh as it can be."
Newcastle did lose Jamal Lewis early on due to injury and it's unlikely he recovers in time for this fixture.
"We lost Jamal Lewis early in the game at Liverpool early in the match which was obviously a big blow to us because he is athletically so good."
Given the form of the two sides, it was always going to be a difficult challenge for Newcastle and the task is even harder with a key player like Lewis out.
The rest of the backline is likely to stay the same, with Ciaran Clark replacing the injured Lewis.
Joe Willock and Callum Wilson both came off the bench late in midweek and could be recalled to the side to freshen things up.
Miguel Almiron did not feature at all but is another player who could come in to offer something going forward when Newcastle do get hold of the ball.
Allan Saint-Maximin did hobble off against Liverpool and was given an injury assessment at Newcastle's training ground on Friday, with Howe hoping he is passed fit to play.
Predicted Man City line-up (4-5-1): Martin Dubravka; Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Javi Manquillo; Miguel Almiron, Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Willock, Issac Hayden, Allan Saint-Maximin; Callum Wilson
