Predicted Leeds United XI and two alternatives Marcelo Bielsa could switch to for Hull City

Kalvin Phillips will return to Leeds United’s starting line-up on Tuesday night, that is certain, but who he replaces is less so.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa was typically forthright in his pre-match press conference, making it plain Phillips would immediately return from suspension.

However, the Argentine was still undecided on where the change would come, meaning Gaetano Berardi may yet survive the chop and make way for Ben White in defence.

Here are three different combinations Bielsa could go with as Hull City, most recently playing a 4-4-1-1, head to Elland Road in the Championship.

Keep it simple - predicted line-up

The change everyone expects with Liam Cooper still out. Phillips comes in, White shuffles back and Berardi shuffles off.

This is surely the most likely formation and personnel Bielsa goes with in light of how little he likes making unenforced changes.

Everyone else in that side has made a major contribution to the six-match winning streak.

Super sub Costa and three at the back

The second of the formations Bielsa has traditionally opted for in West Yorkshire and a chance to unleash Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison from wide.

It means Helder Costa is relegated to the bench and given a late chance against tired legs. Some may not wish to expose Berardi to the explosive threats of Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen.

All out attack

Eddie Nketiah remains the man most people are keen to finally see from the start in a Championship game. This tears up what we know about Bielsa’s United.

Dallas moves into a double pivot with Phillips to protect the backline and add some steel, while Ayling moves across to let White in alongside Berardi.

It does mean Mateusz Klich and Helder Costa’s attacking threats are sacrificed in order to unleash Nketiah in a two-man attack with Bamford.
